Treasures To A Terrific Life
If you’ve been having a look around my site, you’ve probably already realized a couple of things:
- I’m a self-help addict
- I love helping people find peace, joy and fulfilment in their life
- I don’t take the conventional route to get there
But, in order to find out what Treasures To A Terrific life really is, you need to understand how this site came to be:
Life – It Catches Up On You, Doesn’t It?
After you turn 21, your life goes so fast.
At least, that’s what I was always taught. But, I never really believed it.
I mean, at 21, you’re having your first legal drink, meeting guys and thinking about what you want to do with the rest of your life. You’re so in the moment, that the future never really crosses your mind.
But, I woke up one day and I was 38. I was married. I was a Mom. And, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
Somehow the future happened, and it never even stopped to ask if I was okay with it.
Not only that, but the landscape of my life was completely changing. Everything I’d spent the past few years defining myself with was about to change.
My children didn’t need to me change their diapers, build Lego, read them bedtime stories and put them into the booster seat of the car. Suddenly, they needed me to be something else.
They’d decided to grow up and become real people, with real problems: dealing with love, loss, puberty and not making the “A” team.
Turns out I’d left the ‘How to deal with real problems’ manual in the Hospital when I came home with my youngest, and was sailing this ship without a skipper.
The landscape of my life had truly begun to change, and I had no idea what to do.
Which, I’m sure, is a position you’ve found yourself in many times throughout your own life.
Finding The Answers
At the deepest, lowest point of my confusion, I found an answer. And, that answer was Oprah.
Trust me, I know how cliché that sounds.
Well, she was sort of the answer. It was more the people she was talking to. She was interviewing some spiritual teachers, and I couldn’t bring myself to look away from the screen.
It was like everything they said spoke directly to my soul. They’d taken my life, my problems and my solutions and arranged them in the form of an interview.
For the first time in months, I knew exactly what I needed to do.
I started buying spiritual books, tapes, podcasts and videos. With each one the answers became a little clearer. My life became a little easier. My resolve a little stronger. My purpose a little more in view.
I’d found the answers I was looking for, and all of them were digitally downloadable.
The next nine years were spent cultivating a self-help addiction doing a lot of research and applying everything I learned to my children. Showing them how to live a life free of stress, full of joy and following their passions.
The more I did this, the more I found applications to help other people do the same.
It started with friends and relatives, then it slowly branched out into schools, teachers and parent’s I’d never even met. And now, I’ve found a formula to help parents and their children alike find real fulfilment, change and joy in their own lives.
If you want to know how to do the same, you’re in the right place.
Who Am I To Tell You All This?
Hi, I’m Annie.
I’m a stay at home Mom from Indianapolis.
I’m married to Marty, who I spent most of my time using as a guinea pig for all of these methods.
I’m also Mom to:
- Riley, 19, plays tennis for Ohio State
- Parker, 17, is a junior at North Central;
- Spencer, 15, is a freshman at Brebeuf High School
- Mallory, 13, is a freshman at Brebeuf High School
All in all, I have a pretty great life. But, as you just read, it wasn’t always that way.
Through the power of affirmations, journals and meditation, I found ways to leave the place I was stuck in, and create a new, more wholesome life for my family.
And now, I want to help you do the same.
On this website, you’ll find nothing but applicable information that you can apply to your own life.
If it’s on the website, it’s because I’ve tried and tested it. It’s worked on my children, or myself and on other people.
And everything here is designed to do one thing: bring you a fuller, more peaceful and joyful life.
I hope you learn as much from this blog, as I have from creating it.
